Take Care Of Yourself After Having Rhinoplasty

  • Supporting the head with a pillow for the first two nights after rhinoplasty and sleeping in an upright position as much as possible minimizes the risk of edema development,
  • Eating regularly and sleeping regularly helps to speed up the healing process,
  • Strenuous activities or activities that require leaning should be avoided for at least three weeks,
  • Glasses should not be worn for the first 4-6 weeks,
  • Avoid exposure of nasal region to direct sunlight for at least 3 months,
  • Avoid swimming in the sea, pool or using sauna for the first 4-5 weeks,
  • Alcohol and smoking prolong the healing process.

After Revision Surgery

  • After rhinoplasty, the patient should clean the silicone pad for the first week and keep his/her mouth open so that she/he can breathe more easily,
  • Applying ice for at least 4 days will eliminate swelling and bruises that may occur in the nose,
  • Strenuous sports requiring physical effort such as weightlifting and tennis should be avoided for at least 1 month,
  • As from the first week, the patient can start walking and doing simple exercises,
  • The patient should not wear glasses for at least 3 months. Wearing contact lenses instead is recommended. At the end of this process, the patient can use very light glasses. Wearing contact lenses instead is recommended,
  • In order to avoid edema, sauna, solarium, sunbathing and Turkish bath, sea, swimming pool should be avoided for 1 month.After the splint is removed, the patient can take a shower.
