There are several different liposuction techniques. But what they all have in common is the use of a thin tube, called a cannula, attached to a vacuum to absorb body fat.

Tumescent liposuction is the most common technique.

Ultrasound assisted liposuction uses sound wave energy under the skin to break up the cell walls of the fat and thus liquefy and absorb the fat. Laser-assisted liposuction, or SmartLipo, uses a laser to generate energy to liquefy fat.

High Definition Liposuction

HD liposuction, also known as VASER, is a new ultrasound liposuction procedure that takes traditional liposuction to the next level. Just like with normal liposuction, HD removes fat from parts of the body to show the natural underlying structure.

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy of Resonance. This procedure utilizes a device that liquefies the fat cells before they’re removed from the body. The doctor also applies a swelling liquid into the area, which helps further break down the fat.

When the fat is completely broken down, it’s removed from the body by means of vacuum.  This method can be used on almost any part of the body, such as the arms, chest, shoulders, abs, buttocks and inner thighs.
